Day wise Itinerary

Day 1: Guwahati To Shillong

Get picked by North East Explorers’ representative from the airport. On your way to Shillong, also known as the Scotland of the East, stop by the gorgeous Umiam Lake and soak in its grandeur. With Umiam done, head to your wonderfully located Khasi homestay in Shillong and relax before heading out again. In the evening, head to the main market area to get an idea of the town’s life after dusk.

Day 2: Shillong – Sacred Grove – Heritage Village – Cherrapunjee

Today you will get a glimpse of one of the most sacred places of the local Khasi tribe, the Mawphlang sacred grove. Take a guided walk in the forest and listen to the stories of the past kings and queens of the Khasi people and their way of life. After coming out from the immersive walk, take a walk around the Khasi heritage village nearby which will give you a peek into the actual khasi style of villages of yesteryear You will then proceed towards Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on earth.

Day 3: Cherrapunjee – Tyrna – Double Decker Living Root Bridge – Cherrapunjee

Today will be the day when you see the bio-engineering marvel, the Living Root Bridges of Nongriat. Start from Cherrapunjee and head to the tiny village of Tyrna. Your trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge starts here. It’s going to be a long day so, don’t forget your munchies and toffees. By the time you come back, the daylight would have almost given way to dusk. From there, drive to your Khasi homestay in Cherrapunjee for the night.

Day 4: Cherrapunjee – Dawki – Mawlynnong

Today, you will start with what is known as Asia’s cleanest village, Mawlynnong. The drive is a beautiful one so, sit back and relax but don’t get too relaxed to not take a break or two on the way, just to soak in the beauty around. Perched atop a bunch of hills, the village sits right at the frontier between India and Bangladesh. However, before heading to the Mawlynnong village, we will drive to visit the India – Bangladesh border at Tamabil – Dawki and also experience the transparent waters of the Umnkot river (depends on the season) which also forms the natural border between India and Bangladesh, here. You can also choose go for boating at Dawki here, if you are interested. One at the Mawlynnong village after visiting Dawki, time-permitting, we can explore all the things to see in Mawlynnong such as, walking up the sky bridge to have a look at the Bangladesh plains below. Check in to a very simple but nice village home for the night and have your dinner there. No option of eating out today. Also, on your way, stop by at the village of Riwai and visit the Living Root Bridge there.

Day 5: Mawlynnong – Guwahati

Wake – up early and take a stroll around the village. Explore its hundred-year-old church, and the narrow lanes of the village and learn about how the village is kept spotlessly clean by watching the villagers, kids to oldies, playing their part in keeping the village clean. Post breakfast, head back to Guwahati.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1: Guwahati – Shillong (110 kms / 3 hours)

Meet and greet on arrival and then transfer to Shillong the capital of Meghalaya, the abode of clouds. On the way to Shillong visit Umiam Lake. Check in to tour Hotel. After brief fresh n up visit Lady Hydari Park, Wards Lake, Night, stay in Shillong.

Day 2: Shillong – Mawlynnong – Dawki – Shillong (90 kms / 2-3 hours)

 Today after breakfast we start our day for a day long excursion to Mawlynnong village, leave at 8:00 A.M. Reach Mawlynnong and explore the cleanest village in Asia, we will also experience the wonder of the Khasi war Tribes – The Single Decker living Root Bridge at Riwai village. Also experience the panoramic view of the Bangladesh from 85 ft high sky walk made of bamboo by the locals. After exploring the village we can drive to Dawki village (12 kms from the village), and go for a Boat ride in Umngot River bordering India and Bangladesh, also known as crystal clear lake. Back, to Shillong. Night, stay in Shillong.

Day 3: Shillong – Cherrapunjee (65 kms / 2 hours)

After breakfast transfer to Cherrapunjee. On the way to Cherrapunjee you can visit Shillong peak, Elephant Falls. On reaching Cherrapunjee visit Arwah Cave, Noh-Ka-Likai Falls, Eco Park, Seven Sister Falls and Mawsmai Cave. Later drive to your hotel. Night, stay in Cherrapunjee.

 Day 4: Cherrapunjee – Mawphlang – Laitlum- Shillong (40 kms / 3- 4 hours)

After breakfast drive to Mawphlang. On reaching Mawphlang you can visit Mawphlang Sacred Forest, Khasi Heritage Village. Later drive to Laitlum. Here you can enjoy the Great Canyon. Thereafter drive to Shillong. Evening is free to explore the Police Bazaar. Night, stay in Shillong

Day 5: Shillong – Guwahati (110 kms / 3 hours)

After breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Guwahati. Check in to your Hotel in Guwahati. After brief fresh n up visit ‘Kalashetra’, a place where Assamese history and culture is presented through Light and sound show. Later enjoy Sunset/Sundown River Cruise on mighty Brahmaputra. Night, stay in Guwahati.

Day 6: Guwahati – Kamakhya Darshan – Airport

After breakfast check out from the hotel and visit KAMAKHYA TEMPLE. It is suggested that a special entry pass for the temple is obtained prior to the visit to avoid waiting time. After the Kamakhya Darshan drive to Guwahati Airport to drop off for your onward destination.

It Is Credited as Being The Wettest Place On Earth, Although Nearby Mawsynram Currently Holds That Record. Visit: Nohkalikai Waterfalls, Seven Sister Waterfalls, Etc. By Evening Return At Shillong. Day 03: Shillong -Dawki

Breakfast Proceed To Mawlynnong Village & Visit Dawki (Bangladesh Border) . Mawlynnong Village Has Earned the Distinction Of Being The Cleanest Village In India. It Is Situated 90 Kms. From Shillong and Besides the Picturesque Village, Offers Many Interesting Sights Such As The Living -Root Bridge And Another Strange Natural Phenomenon Of A Boulder Balancing On Another Rock. Day 04: Shillong To Kaziranga

 After Breakfast Visit Shillong Peak, Elephant Falls, Golf Course, Museum & After That Drive To Kaziranga. Kaziranga National Park Is A National Park In The Golaghat And Nagaon Districts Of The State Of Assam, India. A World Heritage Site, The Park Hosts Two-Thirds Of The World’s Great OneHorned Rhinoceroses. Overnight Stay At Kaziranga.

Day 05: Kaziranga

Kaziranga National Park is a protected area in the northeast Indian state of Assam. Spread across the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, its forests, wetlands and grasslands are home to tigers, elephants and the world’s largest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses. Ganges River dolphins swim in the park’s waters. It’s visited by many rare migratory birds, and gray pelicans roost near Kaziranga village. Today You Can Do the Morning Or Evening Safari (At Own Cost). Overnight Stay at Kaziranga.

Day 06: Kaziranga to Guwahati

After Breakfast Drive Towards Guwahati. Reach Guwahati, Check In Hotel. Overnight Stay At Guwahati.

 Day 07: Departure

 Early Morning Visit Kamakhya Temple Darshan, Return Hotel. After Breakfast Drop At Guwahati Airport For Your Onward Journey.

Day wise Itinerary

DAY 1: GUWAHATI TO KAZIRANGA NP

 We shall start our journey at 11 AM from Guwahati to Kaziranga national park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kaziranga National Park is home to the unique One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros apart from several other wild animals. A jeep or elephant safari through the lush green forest and an overnight stay in one of the many resorts there will bring you a little closer to nature and wildlife. It will be evening while reaching Kaziranga National Park. Evening enjoy traditional dance and music at Orchid park near Kaziranga national park. Check in to a hotel/homestay and take a rest.

DAY 2: SAFARI INTO KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK

Morning, go for an elephant safari into the central range of Kaziranga National park. After that come back to the hotel, and have breakfast. Take a rest for some time and then go to explore the tea gardens and orchid park. After lunch, it’s time for the afternoon Jeep Safari in the western range. It will be 2 hours safari into the jungle.come back to the hotel and take a rest.

 DAY 3: KAZIRANGA TO SHILLONG

Morning, we shall start our journey towards Shillong. On the way enjoy the view of the beautiful Umiam Lake (a reservoir in the hills). After reaching Shillong we shall check in to a hotel/homestay. After that, we shall go to explore the Shillong market and cathedral church. Evening head to the hotel a perfect night’s sleep.

DAY 4: SHILLONG TO DAWKI

Morning travel to explore Phe Phe falls. There will be a small trek of 45 Minutes to reach this waterfall. After that visit another beautiful waterfall called the Krang Suri waterfall, which will definitely take your breath away. After that travel to Dawki and check-in to a hotel and relax.

DAY 5: DAWKI TO CHERRAPUNJI

 Morning explore boating, Kayaking, cliff jumping in umngot river in Dawki( Shnongpdeng). Later travel to visit Mawlynnong village, (Known as the cleanest village in Asia). Visit the Single Living root bridge in Mawlynnong. On the way visit Indo-Bangla Border. After that travel to Cherrapunji. Visit Mawkdok Dampep valley enroute.

DAY 6: CHERRAPUNJI LOCAL SIGHTSEEING

Get ready to explore Cherrapunji known for its living root bridges and also holds the honour of being the “wettest” place on earth. Today, visit Dainthen waterfalls and enjoy the eye-soothing Wei Sawdong waterfall also known as the three-level waterfalls or terrace waterfall. Visit Nohkalikai waterfall (the tallest plunge waterfall in India), Arwah cave and Mawsmai cave(a beautiful limestone cave), and Seven sister waterfall.

DAY 7: TREKKING TO DOUBLE DECKER LIVING ROOT BRIDGE

 Put on your trekking shoes for the day!! Transport to Tyrna village and thereafter it is a trek from Tyrna to the double-decker root bridge at Nongriat. It is a “stairway to heaven”. After a long day of trekking enjoy and relax. overnight stay in Shillong.

DAY 8: SHILLONG TO GUWAHATI

Morning travel Guwahati and visit Kamakhya temple. The Kamakhya Temple is a Sakta temple dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya. It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas. After that, we shall drop you at your final destination ( Airport/Railway station ) in Guwahati. Tour ends here.
